Granite Care & Granite Cleaning
Beautiful, strong & versatile, granite is a
popular choice for kitchen benches. It is hard
wearing, but can be prone to damage if not cared
for properly. To ensure your granite bench
tops last a lifetime, always be careful to
avoid;
-
Dragging pots & pans across the granite.
-
Putting hot pots & pans directly onto the
granite. A heat resistant mat should be
used.
-
Immediately clean up any acidic spills (such
as lemon juice, fizzy drinks, wine etc) from
your granite bench.
-
Always use a cutting board when preparing
food.
Do:
-
Use a mild solution of dishwashing liquid &
hot water and use a soft cloth to wipe down
granite benches. Wipe down with a dry tea
towel.
-
Stone bench top cleaners can also be
purchased from your supermarket or hardware
store.
-
In a 1 litre spray bottle, make up a mix of
1/2 cup isopropyl alcohol, a few drops of
dishwashing liquid & top with water. Spray
benches & wipe off with a clean, dry cloth.
Do not:
-
Use abrasive cleaners.
-
Use vinegar or other acidic cleaners.
-
Put hot pots & pans directly onto granite
bench tops.
